Title: That There, That’s Not Me
Rating: NC-17
Characters/Pairings: Neal/Peter/El established relationship, Moz
Spoilers: AU treatment of the happenings in Under the Radar and On Guard
Warnings: Gratuitous smut and naughty language. A metric ton o’ angst. Might be slightly squicky for some.
Word Count: ~14,000
Summary: Neal is happy with Peter and El and his life in New York, but then the warehouse explodes, causing Peter to accuse Neal, and Moz to pressure him to take the treasure and run. All the stress triggers a relapse of Neal’s little invisibility problem.
This is a sequel to How to Disappear Completely, so it helps to have read that.
Jones cleared his throat. “What color are your eyes?”
“Blue.” Neal's voice was without inflection.
“Are you a criminal consultant for the FBI?”
“Yes.”
“OK. For a baseline, I’m gonna need you to tell a lie.”
He looked up at Peter, standing behind Jones and opened his mouth. “I am in love with Peter Burke.” The polygraph needle did a little dance. Peter narrowed his eyes and then turned his back on him. Neal felt a momentary stab of shame for being so spiteful.
