Summary: Peter Burke, a young FBI agent, meets June and Byron Ellington during an investigation of a series of mortgage fraud cases. They take him under their wing and become his surrogate family. During his first visit to the Ellington mansion, he sees a magnificent portrait of a young man and becomes captivated. June and Byron invite him to spend Christmas Eve with them, and he begins to notice something wonderful about the portrait. For a little while, it comes to life. For almost twenty-five years, Peter spends Christmas Eve with the Ellingtons, and each year, he grows closer to the man in the portrait.

A/N: Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] kanarek13's artwork – or more accurately, the concept that Kanarek told me about, which set my brain whirring. I had the basic idea of this story plotted out before she finished the piece. I'm only sorry it's taken longer than I'd planned to finish it.

Title: Imprinted, Chapter 2
Author: Gaby
Fandom: White Collar
Pairing: Peter/Neal, Peter/El
Characters: Peter, Neal, El
Warning: dub-con due to the nature of the alpha/beta/omega concept
Spoilers: none
Rating: R
Genre: AU, hurt/comfort, angst
Author's Notes: Written as a birthday pressie for my separated-at-birth-twin [livejournal.com profile] kaylashay. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR!
I also still owed her a commissioned fic for her contribution for the Typhoon Haiyan Relief, and she had asked for more in my Imprinted 'verse (minimum 1K words). I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Kayla, I hope you like your pressie. :-)

Word Count: 7,862 (this part—WIP)

Summary: When Agent Peter Burke of the Vice Collar division agreed to acquire the contract of slave-turned-conman Neal Caffrey, he really only wanted him for his insider knowledge on the world of illegal slave rade.  Neal, however, is determined to give the agent more bang for his buck to insure that he’ll never have to play prison slave again, eventually kindling a fire between them that they hadn’t even know existed.  (AU slave!fic)

Author's Notes: The Vienna Gambit, a possible opening to The Vienna Game, is a very risky opening in chess where white (who has the first move) basically goes into full on tactical attack mode.  If black accepts the Vienna Gambit instead of very carefully playing around it, black will get crushed.  It's not a move you would use with a Grandmaster, who could easily work around it, but with a lower level chess player who doesn't recognize it for what it is.

Summary: Peter didn’t remember the hit. Neal did.
Author's Notes: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fuzzyboo03 for beta reading!

This takes place in my hockey/figure skating AU. I started writing it before the hit that Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks took in their December 11th game against the Boston Bruins. But this fic is certainly informed by having watched that hit and some of the media fallout. (It appears that Toews is fine, or at least he has not yet run his car into a support beam of the El as a result of post-concussion symptoms like he did in 2012.)

In short: I had feelings. They are complicated. So Peter and Neal get to have them, too.

Summary: Set in the Gloriana ‘verse – an Elizabethan A/U where Peter works as an agent of Queen Elizabeth’s First Secretary, Lord Francis Walsingham. It’s late in Gloriana’s reign and Peter is commanded to join the English army and guard the coast against the Spanish invaders. Neal must stay in London, and work as Walsingham’s spy. Their parting is long and difficult, but there is much comfort to be had on the return home.

Spoilers: plot elements from various seasons have been co-opted, but no real spoilers
Warnings: No major warnings apply.
Summary: As Peter recovers from his injury, he and Neal find their lives and their relationship changing in ways they didn't expect.

Notes: This is a story set in my Redwing AU, and may not make a great deal of sense out of context. Peter is a detective, and Neal is not a criminal, but they met when Neal was the victim of a violent crime.

( Neal was especially beautiful when he was barely awake, lax limbs sprawled out on the bed, smiling vaguely with sweaty hair in his eyes. If Peter could paint, that would be his favorite subject. Unfortunately, the only way Peter could paint was with a roller, and the only way he could fuck at that moment was in his dreams. )

Warnings: mentions of unpleasant aspects of prisons, nothing graphic
Summary: In a world where Peter never caught Neal, nothing went quite the same for either of them. After they met, neither of them thought that the attraction between them could survive the differences in their circumstances. They were wrong.

Notes: This is a sequel to Wrong Turns on a Lonely Road. The sequel started out life as two timestamps written for [livejournal.com profile] elrhiarhodan and [livejournal.com profile] doctor_fangeek, but it's more than tripled in length from those two ficlets combined. Thank you, chat friends, for the encouragement!

( ASAC Burke wouldn’t be going undercover to catch him, so this had to be Peter. Just Peter, the man who’d been kind enough to give a ride to a stranger alone in the desert. The man who had fucked him and then given him the opportunity to walk away. )
