It’s the most wonderful time of the yeeeeearrrr….

Well, not really, it’s 80 degrees F where I am, but you know, it’s about time to start thinking about Holiday Fic Extravaganzaaaas nonetheless!

What is Hurt/Comfort Advent? Well, it’s easy, actually: create publish a hurty or comforty fanwork and post it on a date in December, then cross-post it to the comm. That’s kind of it.

NEW THIS YEAR: We’re going to have a prompting and claiming round! Yes, I’m ripping off another excellent Star Trek practice (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] ksadvent!), and we’ll have a round of prompts that authors can take or not in a claiming round in a couple of weeks. This way, everyone in the fandom can participate, whether they’re a “creative” or not.

Rules? But of course:
• Sign-ups are open now and will close November 14. Sign up by commenting on this post. All types of fanworks are welcome and encouraged.
• Date claims will open November 15
• Prompts are open now and will close October 14. Leave a prompt here.
• Prompt claims will open opened October 15. You are not required to claim a prompt to participate.
• Works should be about Hurt and/or Comfort. How severe or not is up to you. Given the season, it would be nice if the works were related to the Holidays or winter season (sorry, Southern hemisphere!). This is not required for works (but will be for prompts).
• For fics, there is a 500 word minimum. What happens if you don't comply? Why, it makes imprisoned!Peter wibble manfully, of course. You don't want to be the one to put tears in those big, brown eyes, do you? Of course not – you want to be doling out hugs and planning his escape, y/y?
• All our other Fest rules apply (i.e. no RPF, warn for common triggers in your headers, all pairings, ratings, and crossovers welcome).

Sign up by commenting to this post. Posting begins December 1 and runs through Christmas Day; if there are more sign-ups than that, we'll just allow multiple postings per day. On December 1, there will be a master post - just post a link in the comments there, and your work will be added to the list.

What are you waiting for?! Sign up below.

Post any questions below as well.

It’s time for H/C Advent, Collars!

If you’re interested in participating as a writer or artist, sign up here.

NEW THIS YEAR: We’re going to have a prompting and claiming round! This way, everyone in the fandom can participate, whether they’re a “creative” or not.

Of course, there are a few rules:

• Prompts must have a theme involving the holiday season or Winter/Solstice.
• Prompts can be as hurty or comforty as you wish.
• There will be a claiming round for participants starting on October 15. Participants are not required to claim a prompt.
• Prompts will be claimed on a first come, first served basis.
• Participants will claim their prompts by commenting on the one they want.
• There is no limit on the number of prompts you may leave, but leave them knowing that they may not be claimed.
• All our other Fest rules apply (i.e. no RPF, warn for common triggers in your subject lines, all pairings, ratings, and crossovers welcome).

Prompting claims are now open and will stay open until the end of the challenge; here are some VERY IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. Participants DO NOT have to claim a prompt - they're just there in case anyone wants to use them.

2. Participants DO NOT have to fill the prompt they claim, because, hey, sometimes the muse she is fickle. HOWEVER, if you will not be filling the prompt, it would be polite to come on back and say so.

3. For reasons of #2 above, if you love a prompt and would like to register your interest in beings its runner-up, go for it.

So, prompt away, everyone! If you’ve got any questions, leave a comment on the sign-up post here.
