This is a topic that’s a little more serious…it is a little more grounded in reality than standard Hurt/Comfort, in that there are not easy fixes and miracle cures. It’s not what’s on TV, for the most part. And that’s what gives it its appeal, I think, and how fandom can do what it does best – reflect a reality with the characters that we don’t ever really see – in canon or on our TV screens.
Because in real life, when someone gets shot through the shoulder, there’s likely to be serious nerve and muscle damage they will have to deal with for the rest of their lives. And in real life, people aren’t magically cancer-free at the end of the story arc – those who have survived it must live with the after effects for a very long time.
This topic was the second-place choice in our fic-a-thon survey, and I know we can do it justice. Head to the comments and prompt away, Collars!
Detailed rules are here, but here are the highlights:
- One prompt per comment
- Warn for triggers
- Use the subject line!
- Use the word “FILLED” in your fills
- Feel free to post to your LJ and link here
- Be nice. Have fun.

Neal going blind; Peter worried
Date: 2011-12-03 10:51 am (UTC)Would prefer this be slash, but if you roll gen, that’s cool too.
Neal fears going back to prison

Date: 2011-12-03 12:14 pm (UTC)Neal is scarred during a case
Date: 2011-12-03 12:14 pm (UTC)"How come you never used disguises?"
"The right smile works just as well." (Scott Free)
Through whatever means the writer chooses, Neal suffers a permanent facial scar. I'd like to see an exploration of how invested Neal is in his true looks versus the front he puts up and how much his self image is reflective of other people's reactions to him.
Christie/Neal friendship

Date: 2011-12-03 12:25 pm (UTC)Neal was born with a heart murmur
Date: 2011-12-03 12:38 pm (UTC)Neal was born with a heart murmur which never gave him problems and so he saw himself as indestructible. However with the stress of recent events, ie. season three, he's experiencing chest pains, breathlessness, fatigue, palpitations and has fainted for a moment without anyone knowing, he thinks.
Neal has an insect phobia
Date: 2011-12-03 12:49 pm (UTC)Neal is fastidious in how he cares for himself as well as his "space," but it wasn't always so. To teach him a lesson, (when and why writer's choice) he was locked in a box filled with insects. How does he deal?
Moz - Why He Won't Wear Sandals
Date: 2011-12-03 12:52 pm (UTC)Remember at the end of By the Book, at the end:
Mozzie: It's good-bye, but we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.
Gina: Kerouac.
Mozzie: He also went to California. I wouldn't do well there. I like my shoes to cover my toes.
The real reason he won't wear sandals and follow Gina to California? Moz has a horrific case of toenail fungus.
Hurt!Bancroft
Date: 2011-12-03 12:53 pm (UTC)The epileptic one
Date: 2011-12-03 01:21 pm (UTC)Or, during a case, Neal has an head injury and suffers epileptic seizure after that.

Date: 2011-12-03 01:50 pm (UTC)For example : Peter and El adopt a kitten without knowing Neal is allergic.
Jones backstory
Date: 2011-12-03 02:04 pm (UTC)Neal suffers from PTSD
Date: 2011-12-03 02:46 pm (UTC)(BASED ON A TRUE EVENT)Neal is walking home from the library when a couple of men attack him, viciously beat him, and rape him. They leave when they see another man approach. Neal begs the man for help but the third man rapes him too and leaves him for dead. Physically, Neal will recover, but psychologically is another story.

Date: 2011-12-03 05:32 pm (UTC)The initial injection to the heart was great for Peter, but what happened after the ambulance doors closed and he was taken to the hospital?
Myasthenia gravis or other thymus problems
Date: 2011-12-03 07:39 pm (UTC)Would like the focus to be on Neal realizing the risks of the surgery, the implications of a diagnosis of cancer (if the author goes that route), and facing the prospect of Peter out of his life.
Re: Neal was born with a heart murmur
Date: 2011-12-03 08:12 pm (UTC)Re: Neal living with HIV
Date: 2011-12-03 10:20 pm (UTC)Peter: heart condition
Date: 2011-12-04 03:34 am (UTC)Months or years after "Company Man", Peter learns that there is damage to his heart from the poisoning (possibly via a small heart attack while in the field). He has to go on light/restricted duty and can no longer do field work.
