Kidfic Spring Break Madness

Hi there, fellow WC Hurt/Comforteers!

In recent conversations with some fellow h/c addicts (doctor_fangeek, elrhiarhodan, hoosierbitch, ivorysilk specifically), we all realized a common obsession: kidfics. More specifically, those stories inspired by de-aging and/or childhood experiences. Nothing gets the H/C juices flowing quite like a tug at the heartstrings, and what does that better than an adorable wee!Neal fic. Am I right?

So we thought it'd be fun to run a separate 'fest - apart from our usual promptfests - in case there are those of you out there who are similarly like-minded. Call it the post-holiday blues, but I need some cuteness!

We're going to do this one like the recent Advent Calendar - that is, if you want to participate, just sign up for a date, then post your fic and/or a link to it on that date. It's that easy.

Rules, you ask? We ask so very little:

• It'd be nice if there was a hurt/comfort aspect to the story. H/C is pretty inherent in de-aging stories, but I'll let you slide if your wee!Moz fic is just too damn cute.
• But for the love of all that is holy: NO OFFSPRING OR LONG LOST SIBLINGS! We've seen those stories featuring Neal's long-lost daughter named Madison or Monroe or some other dead President's name, and they hurts us, Precious.
• Many of our other, more obvious fest rules apply, i.e. no RPF, be nice, all pairings/ratings/crossovers welcome. Details here.

Sign up by commenting below and claiming your date - first come, first served. Postings will begin March 12 and go to the 30th, or longer if there's a lot of interest. 

ETA: Regarding postings: just comment to this post on the date you've chosen and I'll include a link to your story below beside your name.  We'll post a Master List starting on March 12, and you can post your link to that. Then a mod will post the link to the master list to track it all, because we're AR like that.

And you should, of course, post your link to the story to the main comm in the usual way, for extra attention/readership. We like that.

I'm not RC, but a) as one of the instigators, and b) reading the description above (de-aged or childhood), my understanding is that "plain" kid!fic is fine (as long as it's one of the regular characters as the kid and not one of the regular characters *having* a kid and then the story is about him/her).

I've been writing a kid!fic over at FF.net, it's long, +40,000 words. Hopefully I'll have it finished by March. I've been thinking about posting it over here in LJ.
How does this work? Can I just get a date assigned and then post the link to a master post of the story? (Sorry, I'm relatively new here, and I'm never posted a story in LJ).

Hmm, I like this idea. I've already written most of a fairly epic White Collar / Supernatural pre-canon story, where Neal and Sam meet at high school. No idea when I'm going to finish it, though, with all the Hawaii Five-0 plot bunnies snapping at my heels...

Does it have to be de age? I know I am in the minority but I really cannot abide by them. I had to write one for my hc bingo card and it was the most difficult square I wrote. I could consider an early child hood experience.

Okay, I've never participated in one of these before, but I'm considering trying this one if I can find the time because it seems write up my alley. I do, however, have a question first. I've already begun two separate series of fics, "Mosaic", which often features kid!Neal, and "Lost Boy" in which Neal is de-aged. If I sign up for this could I (and I'm not saying I would for sure, but I like the option) write additions to one of those, or does it have to be a completely separate project? Also, what are the rules about posting early? Is that an uber no-no, or if I can't wait can I post it elsewhere and just post here on the specified date...?

Again as long as the story is self-contained, I think that's fine. And I adore your series, but each fic is self-contained from what I recall, so I think it's fine, but rabidchild has the final word :)

A little late to the party, but I've been dithering.

At first I was going to take one of the later dates, to give myself more time to write something entirely new. Then I had this bright idea that I'd take one of the very first dates, and if inspiration struck I'd write something entirely new, and if not I'd clean up my current kidfic and post that. Except for some bizarre reason I got it in my head that we were starting at the beginning of March. No explanation for that. Decisions, decisions.

In the end, I think I've decided on Door #2, so can I have the 15th, please?
