Yes, I know the results of our last poll meant that the next fest is supposed to be about Freak Accidents, and I promise that will kick off July 1. But with Whump-a-Palooza still in full swing, I thought we might all like a little palate cleanser from all the angst and pain!

So let your fluff flag fly, people. Comfort food. Smoochies. Nursing someone through a bad cold. I’ll take puppies, kittens, bunnies, full-contact cuddling. Let us have it – we’ve got two weeks.

Detailed rules for our fests can be found here, but these are the highlights:

• One prompt per comment
• Warn for triggers
• Use the subject line!
• Graphic arts are, of course, welcome
• Use the word “FILL” in your fills (helps me to keep track for the fill posts)
• Feel free to post to your LJ and link here
• Be nice. Have fun.

Questions? Leave a comment below.

This fest will last until July 1, but – as with all our commentfic fests – we never really close them down.

So prompt away, fellow Comfortniks….just remember to come back and fill a few, too!

Master List for this challenge

I'm working on this :)

Peter had to admit that he’d been a little unsure about the whole age-play thing when Neal had nervously brought it up. However, after El and Neal had explored it first and had a really fun time together, he’d really wanted to give it a go; little!Neal needed his ‘Daddy’ after all. And the afternoon had gone really well: they’d played soccer in the back yard; had an epic game of monopoly (during which he’d kept expecting to catch Neal cheating, but he never did); and finally, built a blanket fort.

They were cuddled up in the aforementioned blanket fort, Peter telling Neal a story based on one of his case files. Neal’s rapt attention suddenly wandered as his eyes widened.

“Daddy, a wassup,” he said, voice going up in panic as he batted his hand.

Peter’s brain took a moment to figure out he meant a wasp, by which time it was too late to tell him not to bat at it. By some weird kind of Neal Caffrey type luck, he didn’t get stung. Unfortunately, his flailing around knocked one of the column’s holding the fort up and Neal smacked his arm against the coffee table outside. He howled in pain then started crying, big fat sobbing tears that panicked Peter.

Peter struggled at first but managed to get them out of the tangle of blankets and pillows. He awkwardly rubbed Neal’s back and made hushing noises while trying to figure out how to get a look at the arm Neal was currently clutching tight to his chest.

“Hey buddy, how about I make some chocolate milk and cookies and we can clean you up and get a look at that arm,” Peter tried as he ruffled his hair.

“Mama, I want mama,” Neal whimpered out, his breath hitching as he sobbed, fat tears rolling down his face.

Peter felt an unexpected wave of hurt at the rejection. He moved in to wrap his arms around him. “Let Daddy take a look instead?”

Neal shook his head. “Mama…” he sobbed, pausing to sniff noisily, “Mama makes owies go ‘way…” The lull in crying was over and the sobbing returned full force.

Peter pulled him in closer, an arm wrapped around Neal’s shoulders, as he fumbled his cell phone out of his pocket with his free hand.

“Hey hon,” El answered her cell, confusion clear in her voice, “Why are you calling when I’m in just out in the yard?”

“Neal’s hurt his arm and he only wants you,” Peter told her, the concern in his voice as clear as the hurt.

El was there only moments later, not even with time to reply, she’d apparently started to come inside as soon as she’d answered the phone. Peter disconnected the call and noticed El had already put her phone away

“Hey sweetie, Daddy says you have a sore arm,” she said gently, crouching down to their level.

Neal nodded, face blotchy and wet with tears and snot; if Peter ever doubted that this was just an act for Neal, that was all the proof he needed of how real it all was to him. There was a brief hesitation and then he held the arm out to her.

She carefully pulled the sleeve up to look at it and hummed as she examined it, a slight bruise had started to form. Her light touch carefully checked out the bones without fuss.

Much to Peter’s relief there didn’t seem to be any serious injury, no broken bones, he could just imagine what trying to explain a broken arm to their work colleagues would’ve been like.

“I know just the thing to make this all better,” El told Neal.

She straightened up and helped Neal stand up too and led him towards the dining room. El carefully urged him into a chair and then retrieved the first aid kit. She pulled out a band-aid with a little picture of mr.bump on it and very carefully stuck it over the bruise.

“All we need now is the magic mama kisses,” she declared and dipped down as she lifted Neal’s arm to her lips and placed a soft kiss over the top of mr.bump. “There, all better,” she told him.

Neal’s tears and hitching breath stopped almost immediately.

Peter watched, stunned. Magic mama kisses, indeed!

El wasn’t quite done though; she started to gently clean Neal’s face with a tissue, and told Neal to ‘blow’ when she’d got Neal’s nose caught inside it. He did as instructed and then giggled softly as she wiped the last of the snot away and kissed his forehead.

“I think this calls for ice cream,” El said seriously. “That should make sure the owie stays away.”

Neal’s nod of agreement held every bit of gravity as El’s tone of voice had.

Somehow, Peter managed not to laugh. “I think I might need some ice cream too. And maybe a magic kiss,” he told her as he struggled to get himself up off the floor.

El gave him an indulgent look as she ran a tender hand through Neal’s hair.

“But you don’t got no owies, Daddy,” Neal told him, eyebrows knitted together in confused consternation.

“Consider it a pre-emptive strike,” Peter replied as he moved in to kiss El.

Neal giggled and Peter had never been more relieved to see mischief in his boy’s eyes.
